YRF announces first web series based on Bhopal gas tragedy, starring R Madhavan and Kay Kay Menon

Mumbai, December 2: Yash Raj Films is finally venturing into the OTT space of India, with their first big project titled The Railway Men. The project is a tribute to the railway workers at Bhopal station - the unsung heroes of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy, which was the world’s biggest man-made industrial disaster.

YRF announced this project on the same day to salute the heroes of Bhopal who saved several lives when the crisis hit the city 37 years ago. It is being directed by debutant Shiv Rawail.
 
 
Rawail will start the proceedings at YRF with his 1-season limited series about the pliability of human spirit in the face of a disaster. The series will be featuring 4 of the most brilliant actors namely R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyenndu Sharma and Babil Khan. These actors wheel the show and the company will also announce the presence of several other powerful performers in the coming time.Filming of the project started yesterday, December 1.

On December 2, 1984, methyl isocyanate gas leaked from a pesticide factory owned by American Union Carbide Corporation. It has been reported that over half a million people were poisoned that night and the official death toll was more than 5,000.

Several survivors have said they are struggling with chronic health problems like cancer, blindness, respiratory, immune and neurological problems as a result of the leak.

The series will stream on December 2, 2022, paying an homage to humanity and the huge sacrifice amidst the crisis that shook the nation.
