Kolkata, March 06: A major challenge to Graffiti with TMC's symbol and slogans covering the walls in South Kolkata! A day after TMC announced the list of 291 candidates for the West Bengal elections, the BJP has released its election campaign song, 'Gorbo Sonar Bangla'. Further is a setback to the TMC, former TMC MP Dinesh Trivedi joined BJP this morning in the presence of JP Nadda and Piyush Goyal.

Trivedi, who represented West Bengal in Rajya Sabha for the third time and was a former railway minister, had announced his resignation in the house during a debate on the Union Budget, saying he could speak about the violence in his state. "This is the golden moment for me, for which I have been waiting for a long time. Nadda ji and my friends knew I was waiting for this. I never left ideology. The nation was above everything for me. Every person believes that PM Narendra Modi and BJP will keep the nation secure," Trivedi said.

West Bengal Assembly elections will be held in eight phases starting from March 27 with the final round of voting taking place on April 29. The counting of votes will take place on May 2. Besides, West Bengal is likely to witness a triangular contest this time with TMC, Congress-Left alliance and the BJP in the fray.
 
 
The Grand Alliance of the Left Front, Congress and Indian Secular Front (ISF) announced the seats they will contest in the first two phases of the assembly election in West Bengal. The Left Front will contest the largest number of 40 seats in the first two phases, followed by Congress which will fight in 12 seats and ISF in five. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will contest from Nandigram.
