New Delhi, May 01: After receiving two consignments of the COVID emergency aid supplies from the United States, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar hold the conversation with United States counterpart Anthony Blinken. Both the leaders reviewed the flow of equipment and material from the United States during the conversation.
Both the ministers discussed the Indian requirements to address the Covid challenge more effectively. They reviewed the flow of equipment and materials coming from the US.
In a tweet, Dr. Jaishankar said, they highlighted the importance of strengthening oxygen supply, expanding vaccine production, and increasing Remdesivir supply. He also appreciated the forthcoming response of the US in this regard.
US State Department spokesperson Ned Price also informed that both leaders reaffirmed the strength of the US-India partnership in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Secretary of State Antony J Blinken spoke with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today to reaffirm the strength of the US-India partnership in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Expressing his appreciation for Indian assistance in America`s time of need, Blinken reviewed comprehensive ongoing US government efforts in support of the Indian government`s COVID-19 response operations," Price said in a statement.
In the end, Jaishankar and Blinken agreed to remain in close contact during this difficult period."Blinken also noted the outpouring of support from US industries, non-governmental institutions, and private citizens for COVID-19 relief efforts in India.
India on Friday received the essential supplies from the US. The first flight carrying 400 oxygen cylinders, other hospital equipment, and other medical supplies landed in Delhi on the Friday morning, while the second flight, comprising ventilators, oxygen cylinders, and seven lakh rapid testing kits among others, landed in the evening on the same day.
