In a first for airline, IndiGo announces special discount for vaccinated customers

New Delhi, June 24: In a positive development, IndiGo airline has launched a special discount on IndiGo flights for vaccinated customers from Wednesday in a bid to support India's mass vaccination program. This is the first time that such an initiative was announced by an airline in India.

 

 

 

According to a statement released by India's leading carrier on Wednesday, "The customers who have been administered either one or both the Covid-19 vaccine doses, can avail a discount of up to 10 per cent per cent on the base fare while booking."

 

 

"Vaxi Fare is a discounted fare which is only applicable for passengers vaccinated [aged 18 years and above] and located in India at the time of booking," IndiGo mentioned on its website.

 

 

"Passengers must carry their Covid-19 vaccination certificate issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, or show their vaccination status on the Aarogya Setu mobile app at the airport check-in counter - failing which, applicable difference in fare and change fee may be charged," it said. It should be noted that the discount is valid only on the IndiGo website.

 

 

IndiGo's announcement comes two days after the central government began the 'Free Vaccination For All campaign' for every citizens. With that, more than 88 lakh doses were administered on the first day of the revised vaccination guidelines coming into force.
