Srinagar, Oct 20: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti has raised "concerns" on the killing of hybrid Lashkar-E-Taiba terrorist Imran Bashir Ganie and demanded a fair probe into his murder. Notably, the LeT was responsible for killing two non-local migrant workers in a grenade attack and was recently arrested by the security forces.

Taking to Twitter, Mehbooba Mufti questioned the police claim that terrorists managed to kill Ganai while he was in custody, saying it "defies logic and deserves a thorough investigation”.

Mufti said, "I demand an investigation be done into the killing of the Hybrid Terrorist (Imran Bashir Ganie) who was killed by another militant too. It needs to be thoroughly investigated. We cannot have a catch-and-kill policy here as was prevalent in Punjab at one point in time."

Her comments came against the backdrop of the murder of a hybrid terrorist in police custody. The terrorist, who reportedly belonged to the terrorist outfit Lashkar-E-Taiba, was killed by another militant.

Earlier in the day, ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said, "Imran Bashir Ganie (Hybrid) Lashkar terrorist, has been killed by another terrorist during an anti-terrorist operation launched by forces on the information of Imran at Nowgam area."

He added, "based on the disclosure of arrested hybrid Lashkar terrorist Imran and in continuous raids by Police & security forces, the contact has been established between terrorists & forces at Nowgam Shopian, in which hybrid terrorist namely Imran Bashir Ganaie got killed by the firing of another terrorist."

Hybrid militants are not listed as ultras but are radicalised enough to carry out a terror strike and then slip back into the routine life.
