Shivamogga, July 12: The hate crimes against members of right-wing organisations are intensifying in the Southern state. In the latest incident, a group of Islamic radicals attacked a Bjrang dal activist, Kantharaju, near Rajiv Gandhi colony in the Shivamogga district of Karnataka.
As per the reports, a group of Muslim people attacked him last night when he went out to his work. Kantharaju received an injury in his hand and currently undergoing treatment.
Kantharaju has been actively participating in the protest against Harsha's Murder case.
The local police have registered a police case against the attacker. The police officials have confirmed that 5 people were involved in the attack. Till now, police have successfully arrested two people identified-- Junaid and Soham. Moreover, the police have launched a manhunt for the remaining three accused. The investigation is underway.
This incident comes months after the brutal killing of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha. It should be mentioned that a right-wing activist, Harsha was allegedly killed on February 20 for protesting against the Hijab Row. The state government has handed over the case to NIA. The NIA has arrested as many as 12 people in the murder case and invoked sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967 against the arrested.
