Vijay Karnik was in charge of Bhuj Airport during Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. The film narrates how it was built with the help of local women after Bhuj airport collapsed.

During an interview, Ajay Devgan said that it is necessary to bring out the real history as it has been highly suppressed. The present generation should know that on whose sacrifices the country is standing, they connected the youth of India to tell these stories.

They say that the British lived for so many years and they suppressed history. People would have come to the revolt if they had come to know about so many sacrifices.

During the interview, Devgan also spoke about the suppressing the history of India by Mughals. He added that whatever work our kings had done before that, was hidden. Ajay Devgan objected that our books speak more about foreign rulers than the ones of our own country.

However, he says that it is natural that history is written according to those who rule. Giving examples, he said that in then only half a page was taught about Tanaji.

During the interview, he says that today's generation does not even know about Tanaji because of how less he has been mentioned in the books. Due to the sacrifice and selfless hard work of so many people, this country has stood and freedom has been attained. People should know this. Only then will he respect freedom.

Talking on the character of Vijay Karnik, he says that in such films the prestige of the person should be maintained in the stories performance.

The people of India know what happened in America. But they don't know anything about their own history. If making such films brings even 2% change, then it should be done. Such films are accused of 'supernationalism'. But those who fought for the country have made sacrifices. It should be shown in real form.

Apart from Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Nora Fatehi and Sharad Kelkar have played important roles in 'Bhuj: The Pride of India'. In December 1971, Pakistan launched 'Operation Genghis Khan' against the Indian Air Force. 11 Indians were bombed. In the 34 attacks in Bhuj in 14 days, 92 bombs and 22 rockets were fired. The film depicts all of this.
