undefinedGuwahati, July 27: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has appealed to the government to enact a legislation in the monsoon session of the Parliament to facilitate the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya at the place of the present make-shift one.

The VHP made this demand through a resolution passed at its Central Managing Committee held at Haryana Bhavan, Kumarpada, Guwahati on July 26.

The resolution was presented by Swami Chinmayanand Saraswati, Haridwar and was passed unanimously at the meeting.

The resolution said that at the time of Prayag Mahakumbh 2013, the revered sants and mahatmas who participated the meeting of VHP Margadarshak Mandal, decided to construct a grand temple of Sri Ram at the site of the present make-shift temple which is undoubtedly the birthplace of the Hindu icon.

Citing the verdict of the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court, they said that it proved the existence of the birth place of Lord Ram beyond the slightest of doubt which inter alia proved that Lord Ram Lala is the sole legal owner of the 70 acre land.

A delegation of saints and mahatmas met the President and reminded him that the government had submited to the Supreme Court that if it was proved that the disputed site housed any temple or Hindu place of worship, the government would honor the sentiments of the Hindus and act accordingly.

Now that the verdict of the High Court had proved this fact, the government should fulfil its commitment and hand over the 70 acre land to the Hindu society by way of a proper legislation for the construction of the temple, the delegation had said.

The resolution also said that the '84-kos-parikrama' area of Ayidhya is considered as sacred and pious for the Hindus. As such no Islamic structure would be permitted on that land for such a structure would be associated with the name of Babur and would be a constant cause of distrust and tension between the Hindus and Muslims.

The resolution also said that the lengthy judicial process could not speedily dispose off the case. Therefore, this issue could be resolved through the resolution of the Parliament. Therefore, the gopvernment of India must bring such a legislation in the Parliament at the Monsoon Session and get it passed to pave the way for construction of grand Ram Temple at Ayodhya.

The resolution warned that in case such law was not passed, the VHP would be compelled to launch a nation-wide agitiation on the issue.

Earlier in the meeting VHP INternational Secretary Champatrai siad that a 20-day '84-kos parikrama' would be launched from August 25 to September 13 in which major sectarian saints from all over the country would participate. Saints and Rambhakts of south India would do this from September 22 to October 13. October 18 would be observed as 'Sri Ram mandir Nirman Sankalp Diwas' in the entire country. A 'Sankalp Sabha' would be organized at the banks of Saryu river at Ayodhya, Champatrai said.

The meeting was inaugurated by Patron of VHP Ashok Singhal and reception committee chairaman Dr Tarnikant Sharma, famous eye surgeon of Guwahati. VHP Working President Dr Pravin Togadia, Satradhikar Sri Bhadrkrishna Goswami Maharaj and others also addressed the gathering.
