NIA arrests Hizbul chief Syed Salahuddin son Shahid Yousuf in terror funding case

Srinagar, October 24: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) continuing its investigation in a bid to curb terror funding and subversive activities in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday arrested the Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin's son Shahid Yousuf in connection with terror funding case.

 

Notably, Shahid Yousuf was arrested by NIA after he failed to appear before central probe agency for questioning in a case registered against Hizbul Mujahideen in New Delhi in the year 2011. He was served the summons on October 16 to present himself before NIA investigators at their New Delhi office on October 24, Tuesday.

Earlier, Yusuf was found to be in touch with Saudi Arabia-based Hizbul Mujahideen operative Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, who is also an accused in the terror funding case and had received money to allegedly create unrest and terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir region.

Shahid Yousuf is a resident of Soibugh Budgam. Shahid is the third son of known terrorist Syed Salahuddin who is also a supreme commander of the United Jihad Council which is a conglomerate of more than twelve terrorist outfits. Shahid has a Masters in Agriculture from a university outside Jammu and Kashmir and he was regularised in the state’s agriculture department in March this year, after 8 years of service.
