Seoul, October 27: When military tension is increasing in Korean Peninsula, in a rare manner North Korea has shown humanitarian gesture. It has agreed to release a seized South Korean fishing boat. After the crew has apologized the country has agreed to release it. The boat was seized six days ago for illegal fishing in North Korean waters.

The state-run news agency KCNA reported investigation by North Korea had proved the boat and crew had entered North Korean waters for fishing. But then again it reported on freeing the crew that “taking into account the fact that all the crewmen honestly admitted their offense, repeatedly apologizing and asking for leniency.”

As per report, the boat will be released at the maritime border on Friday evening. When the boat went missing it had 10 crew members — seven South Koreans and three Vietnamese — on board, South Korean local media reported.

Usually, North Korea was not seen detaining South Korean fisherman boat in this decade. Before this incident the last one was detained in 2010. But now the situation is tougher for South Korea as North has cut telephone hotline between two countries to discuss such humanitarian issues.
