95 insurgent killed in Afghan army operation within 24 hours

Kabul, October 28: Over 95 insurgents were killed and several others wounded in clashes with security forces in Afghanistan. The anti-government armed militants are actively operating in its various districts and often carry out insurgency activities, mainly in the districts lying along the highway connecting Kabul with the southeastern and southern provinces.

A statement from the ministry said eight armed opposition members were wounded in the operations, which also led to the arrest of 11 suspects.

The Afghan Air Force (AAF) conducted 110 sorties in support of the Afghan National Army and targeted insurgents in nine places, the statement added.

Although the ministry said nothing about casualties among the forces, the militants claimed killing a number of security personnel in different parts of the country.

Meanwhile, at least seven Taliban insurgents were killed during a joint operation of the Afghan security and Special Operations Forces in central Maidan Wardak province of Afghanistan.

The police commandment in a statement said the operations were conducted in Deh Afghanan village and Qala-e-Ziarat located in the center of the province.

Earlier this week, a deadly fight between two factions of the Taliban in Herat region of Afghanistan had left 50 insurgents dead. According to the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Army in the North, the Taliban shadow district governor for Ghormach was killed in infighting in this province on Monday.
