Indian Railways collaborates with Chinese company for new metro cars

New Delhi, November 3: Ministry of Railways and the China Railway Rolling Stock Corp. Ltd (CRRC) held a meeting for supply of new metro cars for one the oldest metro of India, Kolkata metro. Members of rolling stock present in the meeting took a review on this project. This will boost the transportation of Kolkata.

As the Kolkata Metro is the first and oldest metro railway in India started in 1984 ,it needs to be modified as the old cars of the metro trains are nearly a decade old. So for this purpose the ministry has decided to inject new cars in the metro railway with the help of Chinese company CRRC.

 

Around 112 new coaches will be imported to the city of joy and soon it will be on the tracks. It will extend the comfort of the commuters while travelling. Kolkata metro carries nearly 6,50,000 passengers daily through its 300 services.

Kolkata Metro is on the way to development by introduction of cashless ticketing system, installation of escalators on the Metro stations.
