Gandhinagar, December 18: The #GujaratVerdict has many shades. The victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Gujarat is significant as it has 22 years of anti-incumbency, the intensly driven Patel movement, the emergence of trio HAJ (Hardik-Alpesh-Jignesh), a well-managed hype around Rahul Gandhi's elavtion, a victory against some media campaigns evidently executed against the BJP, an unfortunate attempt to gear-up caste based equation versus development issue and unignorable protests against implementation of the GST and yet the BJP still wins comfortably in Gujarat is evident of acknowledment of the visionary agenda of Prime Minister Narendra Modi set years before in Gujarat.

PM Modi’s active participation in his home state and recent policies undertaken by him in the country got approved by the people of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh as Bharatiya Janata Party registers a massive victory in the high voltage battle of Assembly elections that held in both the states.

Gujarat Assembly Elections

However, it was a roller coaster ride for both Congress and BJP at one point as a close contest took place in the initial stages on Monday morning. However, after initial hiccups, the BJP easily crossed the halfway mark of 92 and maintained a comfortable lead over Rahul Gandhi led Congress party and gained a total of 99 seats.

With the massive win in Gujarat, the BJP will rule the home state of PM Modi for a sixth straight term. On the other side, Congress under Rahul Gandhi's leadership who went in a poll with cast factor has won only 79 seats. Patidar leader Hardik Patel, Jignesh Mevani and Alpesh Thakore could not bring a victory for the Congress Party.

Himachal Assembly Elections

On the other side, Bharatiya Janata Party has registered a comfortable win in Himachal Pradesh after winning 44 seats in Assembly elections. However, it is a massive setback for Congress Party in Himachal Pradesh as it was in power earlier as it has won only 21 seats. People in the hill state have been alternating between the Congress and the BJP in assembly elections every five years. After losing Himachal Pradesh, some Congress supporters protested against Election Commission accusing of EVM tampering.

With the results started going in BJPs way, widespread celebrations has already began at the party's headquarters in Gujarat, Delhi, Pune, Uttar Pradesh and elsewhere. Importantly, in the 2012 assembly polls in Gujarat, the BJP won 115 seats, while the Congress won 61. On the other side, in the 2012 assembly polls in Himachal Pradesh, the Congress won 36 seats while BJP bagged 26 seats.

Most of the exit polls had earlier given the BJP a clear majority with more than the 92 seats required to form the government here, dashing the hopes of Congress party to make a comeback.
