Chandigarh, December 28: Commuters in Haryana can take a sigh of temporary relief as Haryana roadway employees have decided to postpone their strike for two months following a talk with authority. The earlier called for a “chakka jam” on Thursday. But as they had been assured by officials that their demands would be fulfilled, they halted the decision.

The leaders of the staffs had a meeting with Haryana Transport Minister Krishan Panwar and other Transport officials on Wednesday. After meeting Dalbir Kirmara and Hari Narain Sharma, members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of five unions spoke about the decision though they reminded that if the government does not fulfill their word, they will decide the future course of action.

The five employees unions had given a call for a strike to press the government for the various demands made by the workers apart as well as opposing route permits to private players. The meeting ran for five hours. During the meeting, 16 points were raised all of which got resolved.

“The unions have a wrong perception that the government has closed certain inter-state routes for roadways buses to favour private players. The government has not closed any route, only reviewed those incurring losses to Haryana Roadways,” the Transport Minister said.
