Kolkata Police to take special initiatives for better security of metro rail during Durga Puja

Kolkata, September 19: During Durga Puja Kolkata faces a huge crowd in thousands of pandals. The whole population comes down to the road, people from different states, foreign countries also gather. Kolkata Metro rail becomes one of the heavily used transports during this festival. To make the total system more secured Kolkata Police Commissioner has instructed police force to arrange for better security.

As per local media report, Police Commissioner has instructed to inspect every station. During the six days, the extra police force will be deployed in various metro stations. If the CCTV cameras are in proper condition, that will also be examined. Road direction placards are instructed to install outside metro stations.

Kolkata metro station has 23 stations. In many stations, X-Ray baggage scanner doesn’t work properly. The effectiveness of checking bags with metal detectors has been questioned. In addition to that, it has been many times alleged that the security forces don’t check bags properly.

Hence to avoid any unfortunate incidents during Puja, Kolkata Police is going to take more responsibility and has been instructed to remain alert.
