Mahadayi row: Siddaramaiah to convene all-party meeting

Bengaluru, January 19: In order to clear the long pending issue of Mahadayi river dispute with neighboring state Goa, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is planning to interact with all party members for an amicable solution.

According to media reports, anticipating the possible backfiring and political damage ahead of the crucial assembly polls in the state, Siddaramaiah will reach out to all the stakeholder associated with the inter-state water sharing row. As per state government officials, representatives from farmer community will also be invited to the reported all-party meeting.

A body called Mahadayi Water Disputes Tribunal has been constituted by the Central government to address the river water -sharing issue between Goa and Karnataka. Mahadayi river, considered as the lifeline for both goa and Karnataka states originates in Karnataka and meets the Arabian Sea at Panaji in Goa.
