Vijayawada, Dec 7: Expressing concern over the trend of 'free' promises set by the existing political parties, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu said that politics of freebies is not a good sign for democracy.

Addressing the small gathering of Swarna Bharat Trust, Naidu stated that before making any wild election promises, one must study the financial health of the state.

Underlining the importance of financial planning, Naidu asked political parties to chalk out the resource mobilize plan instead of strange promises in order to lure voters.

The Vice-President opined that Political parties are accountable to Citizens and when promises remain unaddressed, people in no time will lose their faith in political class.
