Seven point strategy for agriculture policies turn out to be ‘income centric’ for farmers

New Delhi, February 19: Maneuvering policies to double farmer’s income by 2022, Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh highlighted a seven-point strategy at the National Conference titled ‘Agriculture 2022- Doubling Farmers Income Summit’. This strategy is focused on irrigation projects for ‘har khet ko paani’ provision of quality seeds to farmers, investment in warehousing and cold chains, more funding for animal husbandry, horticulture and much more services.

 

While addressing the two day ‘Agriculture 2022-Doubling Farmers Income Summit’, Radha Mohan Singh said that it is essential to generate agriculture policies that is income-centric instead of production oriented. The Prime Minister in the year 2016 has implemented a comprehensive plan based on seven point strategy.

 

The Conference is being organized on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The conference will focus on identifying critical issues relating to agriculture and farmers’ welfare and finding appropriate solutions. The main aim of the conference is to build a consensus around appropriate recommendations that will help in shaping and sharpening the vision of the government on Doubling Farmers’ Income by 2022 into actionable points.

  

Singh further emphasized on saying that the aim is not just to keep the food and agricultural product warehouse well stocked but to increase the farmer income. The government aims to seek optimum level development of farmers with making them prosper and is working diligently for the same.

 

It was also noticed that during the discussion session they also spoke on zero budget natural farming which involves integrated approach to soil fertility, animal husbandry, bee-keeping and cropping. The Summit is attended by farmers, farmers’ associations; scientists, economists, academics, trade industry, professional associations, NGOs, policy makers and officers will take part in the conference. Issues such as agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, dairying & fisheries, marketing, & cooperation will be debated in detail.
