Dehradun, February 19: Since 32 years a restriction which was imposed on harvesting the trees in areas which are more than 1,000 meters in height is now going to see some steps taken by Uttarakhand authorities.

The reason for the changes is that in many places the upper part of the trees joining together, the sun's rays do not fall on the ground, which is affecting natural reproduction. Also, mature and hypertrophy trees are not able to absorb the carbon as according to new trees.

In such a way, to improve the health of forests, harvesting is necessary. According to Forest and Environment Minister Dr. Harak Singh Rawat, the proposal has been kept in this regard before the central government. Besides, instructions have been given to the Head of the Department to prepare detailed proposals.

During the undivided Uttar Pradesh due to the increasing cutting of trees, the court had put a restriction on harvesting the trees in areas which are more than 1,000 meters in height in 1986.

Whatever the money will get from the harvesting, it can be spent in the interest of the surrounding villages as well as the new ones. Dr. Rawat said that this argument has been given to the Union Minister of Forest and Environment has been proposed by the State Government.
