IAF’ ferry chopper crashes in Kedarnath, 4 people on board injured

Dehradun, April 3: In a freak accident, an Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG 17 helicopter crash-landed while landing close to the holy shrine of Kedarnath in Uttarakhand. Around, 6 people onboard the MI-17 were injured in the incident, however, no news of casualties have been reported. 

The copter was ferrying supplies for the Indian Army. The chopper having hit an iron girder lost control and crashed to the ground topsy-turvy.

"Today morning one Mi-17 V5 helicopter of IAF crashed near Kedarnath (Uttarakhand). All persons on-board are safe. A Court of Inquiry will ascertain the cause of the accident," the IAF said in a statement.

Police and local officials quickly cordoned off the crash site and evacuated the passengers who were given first aid and sent for further medical attention.
