World Bank-Maharashtra mutually nod to increase climate resilient practices in farming for agricultural boost

New Delhi, April 6: Today the World Bank and Maharashtra joined hands to financially back agriculture and farmers by adopting increasing climate resilient practices. With this new project, Maharashtra farmers will benefit by adopting efficient practices for farming. 

World Bank inked a MoU with Maharashtra government today worth of US$ 420 million to help Small & Marginal farmers in Marathwada & Vidarbha Regions of Maharashtra. The project aims to help in increasing climate resilient practices in agriculture & to ensure that farming continues to remain a financially viable activity for them.

The project is expected to benefit over 25 million people spread over an area of 3.5 million hectares and cover 5,142 villages across 15 most climate vulnerable districts of the region.

Maharashtra government has been taking up many initiatives to bring out the most of agriculture on the regions like Marathawada and Vidarbha by carrying out projects like Watercups to foster the crops fertility and help farmers on small scale.
