Bhopal gets India’s first Smart Cities Control Centre; civic amenities to be monitored by sensors

Bhopal, May 10: PM Modi with a dream to emerge India as a smart nation initiated Smart City Mission (SCM) in 2015 which is now getting a mold as the capital of Madhya Pradesh got India’s first Integrated Control and Command Centre (ICCC) for all seven smart cities in Bhopal.

The ICCC was inaugurated by The Union MoS for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri and CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday.

Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Satna, and Sagar are the seven smart cities under SCM in Madhya Pradesh.

It has been developed by an American IT multinational Company named HPE (Hewlett Packard Enterprise. One of the features of this ICCC will be that it will monitor the status of various smart civic amenities in real-time through the sensors connected to it.

 

These utilities include traffic cameras, solid waste management units, meteorological department centers, dial 100 police vehicles, 108 ambulance services, street lights, water supply centers, and public buses, among others.

 

“ICCC will integrate a multitude of citizens’ services applications and sensors running across selected cities of Madhya Pradesh,” Som Satsangi, the Managing Director of HPE (India) said. “ICCC enables the government to remotely manage and control various citizen services like smart lighting, smart parking, smart traffic, and transport, waste management, water supply etc. through a single platform, would save time and money of the government by providing an interface to the citizens” he further added.
