Panaji, May 18: Giving the example of Karnataka, Goa Congress committee has demanded permission from Goa Governor Mridula Sinha to form their government in the state as they are the single-largest party and abolish the BJP govt.

16 MLAs of the Goa Assembly met the Governor at Raj Bhavan and urged to them by submitting a letter in which it was written, “Recently in Karnataka election where Indian National Congress (INC) and Janata Dal (S) which has more than required numbers, staked claim to form the govt, Karnataka Governor invited B S Yeddyurappa of BJP to form the govt apparently on the precedent that the Single-largest party is invited to form the govt. This shows the decision taken in 2017 in Goa was wrong.”

"We have all the required numbers with us to form the government in the state. We can prove our numbers on the floor of the House. The magic figure of 21 is there with Congress... even without poaching into BJP camp," Goa Pradesh Congress Committee chief Girish Chodankar said.

The Congress MLAs have also urged to the Governor to dismiss the present government of CM Manohar Parrikar and invite the Congress Leader of Goa to form their Government.

Congress MLAs have also committed to proving their majority on the floor of the house in seven days after the Swear-In of Congress Leader as the Chief Minister of Goa.
