Pyongyang, May 22: After weeks of warms words and diplomatic backslapping, Pyongyang abruptly threatened to pull out of the planned summit next month because of US demands for unilateral nuclear abandonment. Sighting this issue, United States President Donald Trump asked China to be tough with North Korea on its border till Pyongyang signs a deal on denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.

In a series of tweet United States, President Donald Trump tweeted China to be strong and tough on the North Korean borders until the deal has been signed. This tweet comes amidst uncertainty over his scheduled June 12 meeting with the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore.

It was last week, North Korea threatened to withdraw from the first-ever summit meeting with the US, against the ongoing joint US-South Korea military exercise. The US still hopes that the meeting would happen as scheduled. Trump had indicated that North Korea changed its stance after Kim met for the second time with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

North Korea also canceled at the last minute a high-level meeting with the South, protesting joint military drills between Seoul and Washington. The North Korean Presidential office said in a statement that in a phone conversation today, Trump and Moon exchanged views on various actions taken by North Korea recently. They are due to meet in Washington on Tuesday.

Pyongyang also raised hopes ahead of the US summit by announcing it will destroy its nuclear testing site. At a dramatic summit last month in the Demilitarised Zone dividing their two countries, Kim and Moon pledged to pursue nuclear disarmament and a peace treaty.
