Showers of bliss and joy: Monsoon hit Kerala today

New Delhi, May 29: Scorching heat and soaring heatwaves have increased to a level where it has become difficult for people to even step out. But the month comes to an end; fresh showers of bliss and contentment bring smiles on faces of people. Reiterating to the weather conditions, it has been estimated that the monsoons are likely to hit Kerala today.

 

The Indian Meteorological Department has estimated that the monsoons have already arrived in the Andaman and Nicobar Island. Chances of heavy rainfall in the areas of Lakshadweep, Kerala, coastal Karnataka, south-interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar islands, the MeT Department has predicted this during the next 24 hours.

 

The MeT Department has said that there is an offshore vortex over Kerala that is moving northwards favouring monsoon to hit soon in India. Stating the monsoon to hit early, studies show that the monsoon season this year for India is ought to be a normal one.

 

Skymet, country weather forecaster has said that the monsoons have hit Kerala and there will be light to moderate rains in the state till June 3.

 

Southern Region:

Moderate to heavy rains are expected to occur over Kerala and Karnataka till May 29. Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh will start receiving light to moderate rain and thundershowers from June 1st onwards. On June 3rd we expect good rains over parts of Telangana and North Interior Karnataka.

Northwest Region:

Isolated light rains are possible over Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand during next 48 hours. Uttarakhand may also receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers between June 1 to June 3. Isolated dust storm or thunderstorm is also possible over parts of Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan between May 30 and June 3. Heatwave is likely to decline from Delhi, Haryana and North Rajasthan.

Central India:

Heatwave conditions will continue over many parts of Madhya Pradesh and isolated pockets of Gujarat and Rajasthan up to May 30. Thereafter, the heat wave will abate from entire Central India. Scattered rain and thundershowers are expected over South Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan & Goa during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, light rains are also likely to commence over remaining parts of Maharashtra, parts of Chhattisgarh and South Madhya Pradesh. Between June 1 to June 3, there are expectations of intensity to increase over Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan & Goa and Marathwada. One or two heavy sells are possible during that period.
