Johannesburg, July 27: The world today is at the crossroads of a variety of changes with embracing digital revolution and new industrial technology that has given the new world a platform and opportunity to change and transform with the coming challenges.

Voicing his commitments and promises to work together in bringing development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reaffirmed India's commitment to multilateralism, international trade, and rules-based world order in the BRICS Summit on Thursday.

Emphasizing the need to tackle the consequences of the fourth industrial revolution in the technology world, PM Modi asserted that the revolution would have a far-reaching impact on the public and economy of countries like us (BRICS). As known as the “people’s man” the Prime Minister highlighted the fact that people and human values have always been the most important in the center of development and progress. He also acclaimed that new systems and products will open new ways of economic progress.

Pointing out the challenges to face with the acceptance of the fourth industrial revolution, PM Modi said that the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’ will have more importance than the capital. High-skill but temporary work will be the new face of employment. The industrial production, design, and manufacturing will see a radical change. Apart from that the digital platforms, automation, and data-flows will reduce the importance of geographical distances. When digital platforms, e-commerce, and marketplaces connect to such technologies, then a new type of industry and business leaders will come out.

Considering the developments, PM Modi stated that the discussion in the BRICS framework will help the countries prepare for the fourth industrial revolution. Asserting a vital and significant question, the Prime Minister said that with these advances the question will be the type of jobs and opportunities. As far as we can see, traditional manufacturing will remain a major source of employment for our youth. On the other hand, it will be extremely important for our workers to bring about a change in their skills.

The approach and policies for education and skill development need to be changed rapidly according to PM Modi. He further continued saying that the school and university course will have to be created in such a way that it can prepare our youth for the future. The countries have to be very vigilant that the rapid changes in the field of technology can get a place in the courses at a minimum, at the same pace.
In India, the National Skill Development Mission has been started for this purpose. Its aim is to provide relevant technical and vocational skills to our youth. The emphasis of our government is on ensuring that women, men and all sections of society have equal access to affordable and quality technical, vocational and higher education.

PM Modi exclaimed that the portability of social security benefits will ensure the mobility of skilled workers in the digital age. It can help technological innovations to enhance better service delivery, increase productivity levels and better management of labor issues. Sharing the experiences in India, PM Modi said that it has been very positive in this case. An example of better delivery is through direct payment technology to the beneficiaries of labor laws, social security, health insurance and many government schemes.

With this kind of disruption, globalization and migration will have to be better managed through multilateral coordination and collaboration. Especially in the unorganized sector, skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled, it will be even more important to provide social security to all workers.
Reclining the familiarity with the challenges of cybersecurity and the importance of working together to deal with them, PM Narendra Modi said that the industry 4.0 will further increase these challenges and needs.
Lastly, the Prime Minister commented in his plenary session of the BRICS Summit that India wants to work with BRICS countries on the subject of Fourth Industrial Revolution. In this regard, the countries should meet together and chalk out the best practices and policies.
