Jalalabad, July 5: Following a suicide attack in Jalalabad city, Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday visited Gurdwara in Kart-e-Parwan area of Kabul and offered condolences to the Afghan Sikh Community along with promising a thorough investigation.

 

During the visit, calling the Sikh and Hindus communities the pride of the nation, President Ashraf Ghani said the government remains committed to support the Afghan Sikhs and Hindus. He further promised a thorough investigation into the deadly attack on Afghan Sikhs in Jalalabad city of Afghanistan.

He called the attack a catastrophe and promised that the incident would be thoroughly investigated and the perpetrators would face trial for the crime. Meanwhile, on behalf of the Sikh community of the country, Surpal Singh thanked Ashraf Ghani for offering condolences.

The visit of Ashraf Ghani to Gurdwara in Kart-e-Parwan area of Kabul comes days after a suicide bomb attack hit Jalalabad of eastern Afghanistan in which at least 19 people including 13 from the Sikh Community were killed. The attack left the Sikh community candidate for parliamentary election Avtar Singh dead while at least twenty-one people sustained injuries.
