Railways sector is emerging with new technology and more digitized manner. It is always been a major option people preferred for travelling. A group of probationers of Indian Railway Traffic Service, Indian Railways Accounts Service, Indian Railways Personnel Service, Indian Railways Stores Service, Indian Railways Service of Engineers and Railway Protection Force called on the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind today at Rashtrapati Bhavan.


Trains are emerging as a means of mass rapid transport within our cities. Metro projects are being adopted by more and more cities in a bid to provide fast, secure and affordable urban connectivity. This will also help to de-clog our cities and reduce our carbon footprint.

Last year the President reminded the probationary officers that they have joined an institution that provides them a unique opportunity to serve the nation and millions of citizens each day. He urged them to lead a life of optimism and develop a sense of positivity. This will allow them to make meaningful changes both at their workplaces as well as in society at large. It will also allow them to nurture a spirit of innovation and emerge as solution providers.

All the probationers will be required to undergo training for a period of 1:5 years in accordance with the prescribed training syllabus for the particular service or post at such places.

The Civil engineering department of Indian Railways is managed by IRSE cadre which is one of the oldest services of India. These officers are responsible for maintenance of all fixed assets of Indian railways, i.e. Track, Bridges, Buildings, Roads, Water supply, land etc. Those fixed assets are 45% of total assets of Indian Railway. In addition to maintenance of existing assets, IRSE engineers are responsible for the construction of new assets such as New lines, Gauge conversion, doubling and other expansion and developmental works in Railways. Apart from these, they have also been responsible for safety and punctuality of Indian Railways.
