Pune, November 19: Indian Tennis Player Yuki Bhambri bagged his first championship of the 2017 season on the ATP Challenger Tour following the win over countryman Ramkumar Ramanathan in the final of the KPIT-MSLTA Challenger in Pune, on Saturday.
Playing into the Final Yuki beat Ramanathan by 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 within two hours of the game in the Balewadi Sports Complex. Yuki is in top-100 after winning the title. Ranked 137 now will be close to the 120 after earning the 80 points from the event when the new rankings list is released on Sunday.
Winning his sixth title at the challenger level, Yuki will be playing his next event Bengaluru open. Seeded third into the tournament he will face N Sriram Balaji in his opening round.
Yuki Bhambri is a former junior number 1 and winner of the 2009 Australian Open Junior Championship. He is the first Indian to win the junior Australian Open title and fourth Indian in history to capture a junior singles title at a Grand Slam championship. He represents India in the Davis Cup.
