Educational Allowance of Divyangs increased by 80 percent

New Delhi, November 3: The Educational Allowance of Central Government employees' Divyang Children has been increased by the Government from Rs.30,000 to Rs.54,000. There has been an increase of 80 percent in the educational allowance of Divyang Children.

 

In the rules made after the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, the Central Government employees have the provision of reimbursement of double education allowance for Divyang children in comparison to normal children. The Education Allowance of Rs.2250 per month is reimbursed for the normal children of the central employees.

 

In a recent order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, it has been stated that Annual Child Education Allowance has now been fixed at Rs. 54, 000 for the Divyang children of Central Government employees. Also, if both husband and wife are government employees, then only one of them can take advantage of this reimbursement.

On 27th December 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested that the term Divyang (divine body) instead of Viklang be used for persons with disability. In Railway Budget of 2016-17 Rail Ministry has introduced one-time registration for availing concessions while booking tickets online, online booking of wheelchairs and Braille enabled new coaches for Divyangs.

In September 2017, The HRD Ministry also provided facilities to the Divyang students in the education policy and asked schools to provide adequate facilities to them.
