Ranchi, September 18: As the Jharkhand government under the leadership of CM Raghubar Das completed its 1,000 days, BJP chief Amit Shah headed towards Jharkhand to revive economy in the state again. On Sunday, he launched many schemes to develop villages of freedom fighters, called Shaheed Gram Vikas Yojana.
Under this scheme, the rural hamlet of Ulihatu where the tribal leader Birsa Munda was born will be transformed. The village is in Maoist-hit Khunti district which invites greater threats from the jungle. Ulihatu, a village in Arki Block, had remained virtually inaccessible for a long time after Independence because of Left-wing extremism. However, the government will take action under this scheme and provide basic amenities to the people. In fact, Shah met the descendants of Birsa Munda and gave away gas connections and solar lamps to some of the beneficiaries. Both leaders, Das and Shah even planted saplings there, indicating growth.
This is not the first time that the tribals were offered help by the government. When Jharkhand was a part of Bihar, the then sitting CM Lalu Prasad Yadav had also promised growth but nothing of that sort happened ever. Grandson of Birsa Munda, Budh Ram Munda said that many leaders have investigated their situation and gave out long list of promises. But no help was provided to them. The Welfare Department has taken the area seriously and have said that the Shaheed Gram Vikas Yojana will provide 136 pukka houses in Ulihatu.
By implementing PM Narendra Modi’s dream, Shah said, “If we can’t give a developed village to the descendants of the great Birsa Munda and so many others, such as Nilamber, Pitamber and Sidha Kano, then we will not be able to return their debt. Not only Jharkhand, the entire country is indebted to them as they kept raising their voices against the British rulers.”
