New Delhi, September 26: About 80 representatives from different sports authority participated in the national workshop on “Sports for All” organized on Tuesday in New Delhi. Bringing convergence among all the stakeholders and create a shared vision in order to harness the multiple benefits that sports offer is the key objective of the workshop.
The workshop was inaugurated by the youth affairs minister Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore. Talking about the sports system he said that a massive overhaul of the entire sporting system is underway with the Khelo India initiative of the government as per the vision of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the Khelo India scheme is not only about limited to development of stadiums, But also it will work for the development of athletes and the nation. It is about broad-basing sports, providing opportunities for playing, creating competition, picking up talent and also awareness of physical fitness and good health.
Talking about the programme he said, we are going to launch a new programme, 'Khelo India School Games' in December 2017. It will be the best tournament at school-level. It will become a platform for best talent to emerge. To take out the best talent Khelo India School Games are launched.
The authority will select 1,000 athletes and support them with resources equivalent to Rs.5 lakh per year for eight years. And every year, they will keep adding 1,000 athletes which will help in creating amazing bench strength in this country across multiple sports.
To encourage the talent athletes should upload video their video on recently launched National Sports talent search portal. Due to which the athletes will get the further training by the experts after evaluation of their performance.
For the promotion of sports in the country, the stakeholders in sports have to bring professionalism, responsibility, and accountability due to which zero tolerance towards misgovernance in sports bodies in different disciplines will be executed.
