Kolkata, January 5: After Triple Talaq petitioner Ishrat Jahan, her lawyer Nazia Ilahi Khan has joined BJP. Nazia who has been fighting for women empowerment issues since long time has expressed to fight against women oppression with more momentum after joining BJP.
Earlier, Ishrat Jahan, one of the petitioners in the triple talaq case, embraced the BJP saying 'Modiji made a revolutionary law in the interest of victims'. Ishrat, who was one of the five petitioners in the triple talaq case, said she would work in the party's women's wing. "Modiji made a revolutionary law in the interest of victims, I was very happy. I will work in the party's women wing," Ishrat Jahan said.
Triple Talaq, also known as talaq-e-biddat, instant divorce is a form of Islamic divorce which has been used by Muslims in India which was recently struck down by Supreme Court. The resistance to anti triple Talaq campaign and the judicial battle went to such a level that Ishrat's lawyer Nazia Ilahi Khan was being trolled online for fighting the case.
