Winter session in the parliment onset today; Rafale deal, Ram temple in Ayodhya, dam safety, triple talaq to be discussed ahead

New Delhi, December 11: "I hope members will spend their time in the house for the welfare of the people, not for themselves or their parties," said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi pointing the lawmakers today heading to attend the winter session in parliament. The winter session of the parliament starts today, set to culminate on 8th of January next year.
In the chair, Indian Vice President initiated paying homages to the obituary refernces constituting Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Somnath Chaterjee, Kuldeep Nair, Nandamuri Harikrishna, Darshan Singh Yadav, Dr Ratnakar Pandey, Satyprakash Malaviya, Ram Dev Bhandari, Narayan Dutt Tiwari, Ananth Kumar, P K Maheshwari and other deceased parliamentary dignitaries.
 
“Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the most active politician member. He was a member of the Indian Parliament for over four decades, having been elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house, ten times, and twice to the Rajya Sabha. He was conferred India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna. His creative and impactful poetic skills also kept on influencing ever. With his death, India has lost the most veteran politician.”, said Naidu while remembering Vajpayee.
 
Further in the memory of Ananth Kumar, former minister of Parliamentary affairs, the Vice President had deep eyes and said that Kumar will always stay in the memories for his good deeds. “Kumar served as the Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers and Parliamentary Affairs from 2014 till his death in 2018. He was a member of the Parliament for over two decades, having been elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house, from Bengaluru South, from 1996 till his death”, added Naidu. The session also observed mourn for the people who lost their lives in the cyclone in the south Indian state this year.


"This session is important; many issues of public importance will be taken up. I have faith that all the members of the parliament will respect this sentiment and move ahead. Our efforts are that discussions are held on all issues," PM Modi added further.
 
 
The winter session of parliament is likely to see a united opposition piling up pressure on the government on a range of issues like the exit of the RBI governor, rumblings in the CBI and the Rafale deal, while parties like Shiv Sena are set to make a renewed pitch for Ram temple in Ayodhya.
 
It is however estimated that the session will grant some important decisions on the issues of triple talaq, dam safety and other 20 ordinances benefiting of the nation overall. The opposition party will also be positively collaborating further.
