New Delhi, February 10: In order to sustain the need of sanitation in every nook and corner, and create awareness about the same, the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation in collaboration with the Environmental Sanitation Institute and Tata trust, inaugurated a Sanitation Park in CGO Complex, New Delhi. The park was instated by Minister of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Uma Bharti and Parameswaran Iyer.
The Sanitation Park was developed with an objective to create awareness on various safe technological and scientific options. The Park demonstrates various options pertaining to toilet technologies and solid and liquid waste management technologies, with a brief description of these technologies.
The Park also displays information regarding various interventions undertaken under the Swachh Bharat Mission, capturing the success stories and impact created under the Mission across the country. The park presents the opportunity for the visitors to understand the various components and initiatives of Swachh Bharat Mission and familiarize themselves with different skills.
Sanitation is a major concern for people and especially this problem curtails in the rural areas. Women from rural areas are deprived of the sanitation facilities, especially from using sanitary napkins due to their costs and inaccessibility. Apart from the unreachability people in rural areas are even deprived of having appropriate sanitation facility. Therefore this initiative to develop a sanitation park will enable the masses to understand the need and requirement of having sanitation awareness.
