Around 281 companies of Central Force will be deployed in Nagaland to ensure smooth Assembly elections

Kohima, February 12: Elections in Northeast have risen up the temperatures as Bhartiya Janata Party aims to take over the ruling parties to wipe out left governments. Polling for assembly elections in Tripura will be held on 18 February, the states of Nagaland and Meghalaya will go to polls on 27 February. Counting for all three states will be held on 3 March. 

To ensure smooth elections at least 281 companies of central force will be deployed in Nagaland on 27th February.

Out of the 281 companies of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), 77 companies have already arrived and have been deployed throughout the state. The CAPF personnel are also being deployed at police check posts to stop the movement of cash, smuggling of arms, liquor and illegal items.

The Election Commission of India officially announced the schedule for assembly elections of North East states on 18th January: Meghalaya, Tripura and Nagaland Assembly Elections 2018.

Elections will take place by using Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), said Chief Election Commissioner Achal Kumar Joti during a media interaction to give details of the poll schedule.
