Itanagar, February 13: Last week North East got its 1st English news channel ‘NorthEast Live’, this week Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch Doordarshan Arun Prabha- another news channel for North East.
PM Narendra Modi will launch DD Arun Prabha dedicated to the North-Eastern region on 15 February during his visit to Arunachal Pradesh. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the Film and Television Institute in the state capital during his visit.
DD Arun Prabha will be Doordarshan’s second channel for the north-eastern region. It will showcase programmes on the diverse culture of the North Eastern states.
The state-owned broadcaster already runs DD North-East, which telecasts entertainment and information- based programmes in Assamese, Bengali, English and other languages of the region. During the recent budget, the government had granted grant-in-aid of Rs 55.7 Crores for ‘Kisan’ and ‘Arun Prabha’ channels.
