New Delhi, November 2: India released nine Pakistani fishermen along with four civilian prisoners and also a child from Attari-Wagah border on Thursday. The press release issued by the External Affairs Ministry stated that on 28th September this year India had released two civilian prisoners.
The press release also stated that including early release and repatriation of Indian fishermen and prisoners in Pakistan’s custody, India attaches high priority to addressing all humanitarian issues. So far release of 370 Indian prisoners, including 363 fishermen, has been secured in 2017. This year in January, the Pakistan Government had released 219 Indian fishermen.
According to the local media, Pakistan High Commission said that Pakistan issued visas to over 2,600 Sikh pilgrims to attend the birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev from today till November 11.
