Heavy storm may hit southern part of Tamil Nadu and Kerala: IMD

Chennai, November 30: The weather of Southern India seems to be playing games with the region. After heavy rains lashed Chennai during the beginning of the month, now South Tamil Nadu and South Kerala may face stormy rains. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned the region as the area nearby has detected a heavy depression.

 

IMD has predicted damage to power and communication lines due to breaking of tree branches and uprooting of trees, damage to thatched houses, major damage to kutch houses and minor damage to pucca roads. Reports also say that the bad weather may affect agriculture like damage to paddy crops, banana,Papaya trees and orchards.

It is advised that fishermen shall avoid venturing sea as the condition of sea may be rough and bad tides may hinder the work of them and even it can be risk to their lives.

 

The depression in the Indian Ocean is moving towards Kanyakumari at the speed of 15km/hr. it is only 170 kms away from the Indian Land.

IMD has issued a bulletin and has alerted to the state governments of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Earlier heavy rains had hit Chennai worsely leading to water logging in several parts, the daily life had come to a hault, Schools and Colleges were shut for several days, transportation was affected.
