New Delhi, December 2: As soon as the polling campaign for Gujarat Assembly elections gets heated, Finance Minister Arun Jaitely took a jibe at opposition and said that while Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has maintained its credibility, Congress is slowly becoming extinct.

Notably, Finance Minister Arun Jaitely during a press conference on Friday in Surat launched a fierce attack on the opposition and said that the ten years of governance before PM Modi’s government was the most corrupt government we have ever seen. “It was a leaderless govt and was said that the then Prime Minister is a PM in office but not in power,” Minister Jaitley added.

Lauding the current leadership on the occasion, Finance Minister Arun Jaitely said that PM Modi is undertaking the reforms by conviction. “But in the 1990s the reforms were taken under compulsion,” he noted. Taking a jibe on the opposition, the Finance Minister said that while BJP has maintained its credibility, Congress is slowly becoming extinct.

Attacking on Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, Finance Minister Jaitely said, “BJP has always been seen as a pro-Hindutva party so if an original is available why one would prefer a clone.” The Minister on EVM tampering in Gujarat asserted that the results haven't been out yet and they have already started making excuses for their defeat.

He said, “During 80s politics of social polarisation was rampant in Gujarat but the region got rid of that under BJP government and have been constantly trying to take it on the path to development.” Lauding the development done by BJP government, the Finance Minister said, “Foreign Investments had completely stopped at a point in India and today we have come up by 42 positions in the World ranking of Ease of doing business.”

Arun Jaitley, in the end, said that Gujarat is a very important region for BJP because we have been winning and serving here more than two decades. Asked upon the release of Padmavati in press conference Jaitely said, “It is a matter of Censor Board and let them take a decision.”
