New Delhi, October 1: Witnessing yet another Sehwag-Tendulkar opening at the Asia Cup, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan Indian opening pair enjoyed a successful Asia Cup 2018 campaign finishing as the top two run-getters of the tournament respectively. The pair made significant jumps in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings post their heroics in the tournament. While Virat Kohli, who was rested for the tournament, kept his top spot intact, Rohit jumped two spots to the second place to attain his career-best rankings.

Kohli and Rohit are now the top two batsmen in ODIs with Dhawan also making a jump of four spots to attain the fifth rank in ICC rankings. Both Dhawan and Rohit were in stellar forms in the UAE where they played an instrumental role in leading India to the seventh Asia Cup title. Rohit amassed 317 runs in 5 innings at a brilliant average of 105.67 including a century and two half-centuries.

The right-handed has reached the second spot for the second time in his career after attaining the spot earlier in July this year. Meanwhile, Dhawan shrugged off his England horror with a hundred in the very first game against Hong Kong before following it up with scores of 46, 40,114 and 15 in the next four games. Dhawan was awarded the man of the series for his 342 runs in 5 innings.

Kuldeep Yadav also improved his rankings as he jumped three spots to attain the third spot in the ICC ODI bowler rankings. The chinaman spinner scalped 10 wickets to finish as the joint-highest wicket-taker of the tournament alongside Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman and Afghanistan's Rashid Khan. Meanwhile, Pakistan's best-ranked ODI batsman Babar Azam slipped four spots to the sixth position after a dismal outing in the UAE.

In the absence of Kohli, Rohit led India to a successful title defence. India remained unbeaten in the tournament with four wins and a solitary tie against Afghanistan. Bangladesh made India work hard for a win in the final as the thriller went down to the last over with Kedar Jadhav winning it on the last ball of the match.
