New Delhi, March 21: Saluting the challenge taken up by BSF Jawans to climb the Mount Everest, Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore flagged off the second BSF expedition to Mount Everest.
Praising the hard work of our BSF Jawans do, Rathore said, “From being the desert scorpions to conquering the intimidating, snowy peaks, there's nothing a BSF Jawaan can't do. Having conquered 36 peaks in 19 expeditions, they're now off to conquer Mt. Everest. Thrilled to have flagged off this exciting expedition. May Everest be yours!”
There are total 25 members who have aimed to climb 8848 meters high peak. The contingent will be led by Padma Shri Loveraj Singh Dharmashaktu, an assistant commandant with the BSF, and the first Indian to successfully scale the Everest six times since 1998.
The participants of the expedition include three officers, three subordinate officers, 17 other ranks and two medical staff. The expedition will be of 90 days and is dedicated to ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’.
Addressing the gathering after flagging off the expedition, Rathore said: "The forces should prepare themselves for war during peacetime, but peacetime preparation cannot be equal to actual war conditions. BSF is accepting new challenges like a daredevil soldier."
"Scaling Everest is a big challenge in itself," Rathore added while conveying his best wishes to the team.
On the occasion, BSF DG K.K. Sharma recalled the achievements made by the mountaineering team of the BSF and conveyed best wishes to them.
