Mamallapuram, October 11: Connecting China with the rich heritage of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping enjoyed a thrilling cultural performance at the centuries-old Shore Temple on the first day of their second informal summit in Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu.


 

The program showcased the Indian classical dance forms of Kathakali and Bharatnatyam to fast-paced Carnatic music, highlighting the region's magnificent roots.

Deciding on to have the informal summit at the historic place that moves back to India China’s ancient history, Mamallapuram, PM Modi received Chinese President Xi Jinping in Mahabalipuram. PM Modi accompanied Xi to three iconic monuments of Mamallapuram — Arjuna's Penance, Panch Rathas, and the Shore temple.

 
 

The second informal summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being held at Mamallapuram near Chennai on October 11 and October 12. The venue of the summit, the ancient coastal town of Mamallapuram, about 50 km from the Tamil Nadu capital, is significant as it has strong trade and cultural links with China's Fujian province. The four iconic that PM Modi and the Chinese President are expected to visit in Mamallapuram, depict that India has always played a central civilization role in global trade and commerce.
