Amaravati, October 31: Andhra Pradesh State Government is currently running an activity of painting all village secretariat buildings with a colour pattern that resembles YSR Congress Party's flag colour, removing the original Indian tricolor flag. However, this act is being massively criticized and protested by many citizen, politicians and parties from across the country.

"YSRCP has been painting colours resembling their party flag on the buildings. This is not the right thing to do. They have even replaced a tricoloured village secretariat building colour and it is highly condemnable," said V Satyamurthy, BJP General Secretary.
The tricoloured wall of a village secretariat building in Anantapuram district was repainted with the new colour pattern and this move has attracted a lot of criticism.
“The YSRCP govt. had the audacity of painting its party flag over our national tricolor. This is an insult to the freedom fighters & all those soldiers who are guarding our borders. I demand the CM to punish all those who committed this crime,” said Sunil Deodhar.

"The act of colouring the buildings in resemblance to the colours of the ruling party flag is it not misusing the public money? Why are funds being used from the government exchequer? BJP strongly condemns such kind of activities, the public money should be used in the public interest, rather than the party's personal interest,” said BJP spokesperson Lanka Dinakaran.

A couple of months ago, State Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Commissioner M Girija Shankar directed that all panchayat buildings in Andhra Pradesh should be painted in YSR Congress Party colours and should sport a photo of Chief Minister Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy on the panchayat nameplate. All the 11,158 panchayats were told to meet the expenses from its own funds. While a majority of the panchayats have implemented the government diktat, some of them are still in the process. It costs around Rs 25,000 to repaint the buildings based on the size of the building.
