New Delhi, November 19: Ever since the unprecedented historic decision came into being, the entire politics of Jammu and Kashmir moved upside down. This was especially for those who plugged in separatist chords to defame India’s decision on the state. Ensuring to carve out a new development and progressive region, the Modi-led government scrapped Article 370. Since then, Jammu and Kashmir seldom saw any activities like stone pelting which has considerable declined over a course of time.
Replying to a query in the Parliament, the Ministry of Home Ministry on Tuesday asserted that stone-pelting in Jammu and Kashmir has declined since the scrapping of Article 370. It stated that, since August 5, 2019, to November 15 2019, 765 persons have been arrested in 190 cases registered relating to stone-pelting. From January 1, 2019, to August 4 2019, 361 number of such cases were registered.
The Government has initiated multipronged policies to check the stone-pelting menace and has succeeded in curbing it to the extent that a large number of trouble makers, instigators, mob mobilizes have been identified and various preventive measures have been taken against them which include detention under PSA and preventive arrests, added the MHA.
It added that investigation has revealed that various separatist organisations and activists which are part of Hurriyat have been behind the incidents of stone-pelting in Kashmir valley. NIA has charge-sheeted 18 persons in the terror funding cases so far, said the MHA.
The Centre took the historic decision to scrap the Article 370 aligning the state of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of India by taking off its special status. Along with it many separatist leaders were arrested and the NIA filed charge sheet against them for all the terror activities they underwent with compliance from Pakistan. Since the decision came into being, various changes slated in bringing back normalcy and development in the region.
