Aiding farmers to safely tend their lands along border, BSF jawans employ bullet proof tractors under security cover in Jammu

Srinagar, December 11: In a certainly protective mode, taking the insight of the Punjab Police, the BSF jawans in Samba sector of Jammu region have moved up using the bullet proof tractors to plough fields along the International border under security cover from Monday. 
 
Under the supervision of the Border Security Force, farmers now are able to cultivate the land adjoining the border with these special tractors. The bullet proof tractors were procured recently to facilitate the farmers to tend their lands along the border in view of ceasefire violations by Pakistan.

When the Khalistan movement was at its peak in the early 90s, the Punjab Police had specially built bulletproof tractors. Prior to that the security agencies had not used such vehicles. A bulletproof tractor helped eliminate Khalistani terrorists hiding in a 15-foot-high sugarcane field.

Now farmers are using such tractors for their safety in the event of ceasefire violation by Pakistan. This is so that during August to October, Pakistan has violated ceasefire along the Line of Control 950 times and 79 times along the international border, marking to 50 per cent increase in ceasefire violations alone from Pakistan.
Where the Army remains stationed on the LoC, the BSF is monitored by the international border in the Jammu region. According to the data given by the Ministry of Defence in Parliament, in year 2019, Pakistan has broke ceasefire 2300 times, while in 2018 there have been 1629 ceasefire violations.

Further the officials confirmed that such firings are carried out by Pakistan to aid terrorist infiltration in the valley. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, 328 incursions were recorded in 2018, out of which terrorists managed to cross the border 143 times.
