New Delhi, May 19: Today, the Lok Sabha Election Yatra came to an end with last phase (Phase 7) end. 59 constituencies, spread over 7 states, 1 Union territory went to the polls in this phase. Voting is taking place for 13 seats each in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, nine in West Bengal, eight seats each in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, all four constituencies of Himachal Pradesh; three in Jharkhand and the lone seat of Chandigarh. As per the Election Commission data, around 62.89% voter turnout was recorded till 8.30 pm.


 

Voters’ turnout is as follows:

Bihar: 53.36%

Himachal Pradesh: 69.73%

Madhya Pradesh: 71.49%

Punjab: 62.53%

Uttar Pradesh:: 57.86%

West Bengal: 73.51%

Jharkhand: 71.16%

Chandigarh: 63.57%

Altogether 111 candidates were in the fray. More than 17 thousands of polling booths were set up. The Election Commission had made elaborate security arrangements to check violence during polling.

 

Today, 7.27 crore voters took part of which 3.47 crore were women and 3,377 were persons of third gender.

As the final phase of Lok Sabha Elections comes to an end today, the whole nation’s eyes are waiting for results declaration.
