Bangalore, July 2: H. D. Kumaraswami led coalition government is tottered as the two Congress MLAs Ramesh Jarkiholi and Anand Singh have officially resigned from the State Assembly.

Ramesh Jarkiholi in his resignation letter to Assembly Speaker yesterday said that he resigns as Gokak MLA for being ignored by the party and the coalition government. Before his resignation, the second MLA Anand Singh, who represents Vijayanagar in Ballari, declared his quitting owing to the State Government’s decision to sell over 3,667 acres in Ballari to JSW Steel Ltd and his unnoticed demand to carve-out Vijayanagara as a separate district from Ballari for better administration.
The decisions of these two resignations has come when the Karnataka CM Is on a week-long visit to the US visit. After the Lok Sabha Election, the State Cabinet decided to sell the mining land to Jindal steel plant at the cost of 1.20 lakh rupees per acre. The move was strongly opposed by several congress leaders.

With the resignation of the two, the JD(S)-Congress’ strength has reduced 116, in Karnataka’s 224-member assembly. The BJP, having the strength of 105, will require at least another 11 coalition MLAs to resign in order to form the government. However, Anand Singh has rubbished reports that his resignation was part of the Operation Lotus. Overall, Politics in Karnataka has caught the attention of the nation.
