New Delhi, Jul. 3: The drama started from election results, the Congress ‘chief’ Rahul Gandhi is insistent about leaving president post, but there are many loyal Congressman who is opposing this resignation. Now, giving full stop this drama, Rahul Gandhi affirms today that ‘he is no longer the party president’, having submitted his resignation and also urged the party to elect his replacement.

“The party should decide on the new president quickly without further delay, I am nowhere in this process. I have already submitted my resignation and I am no longer the party president. CWC should convene a meeting at the earliest and decide”, Said Rahul Gandhi while addressing media.

This statement comes a day after a party worker threatened to hang himself outside a Congress party office in Delhi if Rahul Gandhi does not take back his retirement.

The Wayanad lawmaker, stepped down from his post at the CWC meet on May 25, taking moral responsibility for the Congress’ terrible performance in the 17th LokSabha elections.

Despite senior members making serious attempts to convince Rahul Gandhi to rethink his decision, but he has remained unfazed.
Quite a few party leaders have also sat on an indefinite hunger strike over the issue in an attempt to change Rahul Gandhi’s mind. He was also visited by all five sitting Congress Chief Ministers over this issue, but the effort appears to have gone in vain.
