LRO urges Mumbai CP to sternly act against violation of "Anti-Superstition & Black Magic Act" during evangelist program

Mumbai, September 4: The Legal rights observatory, a legal watchdog has urged the Mumbai Police Commissioner to take stringent action against the Police Officer who failed to discharge his duties to stop and book the evangelists of The New Life Fellowship Mission engaged in spreading superstitions at Worli BMC school.

In a diversified country like India where secularism is the strength, some find this diversity as a hard-pinching hurdle as they manipulate and convert people in their religion. Known as ‘city of dreams’, Mumbai was the latest on the radar of the Missionaries as The New Life Fellowship Mission tried to sway the people through superstition and black magic. However, the concerned Mumbai Police Office failed to take any action to stop the evangelist program arranged by The New Life Fellowship Mission which spread superstitions.

Taking cognizance of the situation, the Legal Rights Observatory has brought this entire situation before the Commissioner of Police by writing a complaint. The complaint highlighted how the local police failed to carry out their duty.

Further LRO requested the Mumbai Police Commissioner to take action against the erring cops for the inaction against evangelist program arranged by The New Life Fellowship Mission.

Influencing people and trying to convert their religion has come into limelight quite often. Bringing another horrifying picture of the same, it was reported that on September 1, ‘The New Life Fellowship Mission’ had arranged a program at Worli BMC School. During this program, the local citizen heard voices like hallucinations and violent screaming of some women inside the school premises. When reached at the school, the alert citizen witnessed terrified kids. The vigilant activists and local citizen immediately called the local police alarming that the program was organized in violation of the Anti-Superstition and Black Magic Act.

Surprisingly, the local police officer visited the spot but did not take any action. Instead, the officer threatened the citizens who alarmed the program in which the kids were being horrified by some unusual acts which could be termed as superstitious. The police officials didn't lodge FIR against The New Life Fellowship Mission under "Anti-Superstition and Black Magic Act", says LRO.

The LRO, in its complaint to the Commissioner, asserted that after much tensions local police officer warned program organizers in a written letter, but that was just cosmetic action to pacify sentiments. LRO requested the Mumbai CP to investigate the cause of inaction by the concerned Police officer who visited the spot.

Also, it mentioned ordering concerned police officer to lodge FIR against The New Life Fellowship Mission and headmaster or principal (Who allowed the program to be held in their school premises) under "Anti-Superstition and Black Magic Act" for actively or passively spreading superstitions.
